To capt. Mark, I would rank watchmen at the top of anything i've ever read in comics and somewhere in the top 5 of any piece of literature period. It's an incredible story about deconstructing the super-hero mythos. I don't think anyone had done that before. It was written in the mid 80's when cold war tensions were still going on and people feared a nuclear winter. But for me the most important part of that book is the existential reflections of Dr. Manhattan. In one issue he says something about him not understanding the Comedian at first but then he came to realize that the Comedian understands the human condition perfectly well. That blew me away because I feel that may be Moore's social comentary on the world we live in. Awesome book and I can't say enough about it.

Oh, another thing Garth Ennis's Punisher:Born is pretty damn good too. He did his homework on that one. I was in the army and found myself surprised that a comic book writer got it right.

No doubt about it. If it's as good as 300, then I can't wait. I love the original series, and consider it to be the best comic ever produced. It's about time someone in Hollywood tackled this one.

Ian, I am curious as to where you would rank it on your all-time favorites list?

I'm inclined to say any Watchmen movie is better than no watchmen movie, but Alan Moore' soriginal work is just so cinematic, the panels are like storyboards right off the bat. It is almost impossible to see how they could improve it, and they could screw it up a lot of ways. Zack is a good choice. If anybody can do it, he can.

It has much potential with Snyder but it probably really matters if they get Alan Moore involved. When he hasnt been invloved with one of his comics to movies he acts like a turkey.
Curious to see whom he casts but I still think if he doesnt get Moore involved then he might be making a small mistake and end up pissing off some diehard loyalists. I hope they market it toward people who might have no idea who the watchemen are.
