the nazis had a real knack for coining clever phrases that masked their true intentions while at the same time appealing to the germanic nature of it's citizens.

the nazis were far more adept at controlling their own people with cleverly and highly funded propaganda than any other single thing - and that includes war.

the term final solution or 'endlosung' (in german) was among those terms that germans tossed about with vitriol and spite while at the same time never really expecting their government to ever actually do it.

other phrases that germans in the nazi era loved to quote without ever really thinking much about what they really meant were:

Endsieg – "final victory"; referring to the expected victory in World War II

Führerstaat – the concept of Hitler's dictatorship of one-man rule

Kristallnacht or Reichskristallnacht – Crystal Night ; refers to the "Night of Broken Glass", Nov. 9-10, 1938, when mob violence against Jewish people broke out all over Germany.

Lebensraum – "Living space", specifically living space for ethnic Germans and generally referring to territories to be seized in Eastern Europe.

Nacht und Nebel – "Night and fog", code for some prisoners that were to be disposed of leaving no traces.

that's not all of them by a long shot, but you get the idea...
