What they hell are they doing? Showing off? This road isn't even 1/2 a mile long, so they can't drive very long before having to slow down anyway. Isn't it bad for your car to speed up very fast and then slow down suddenly? I doubt this guy has a high quality car as I don't live in too rich of a neighborhood.

Could they be trying to piss someone off who lives on this road?

But they do this EVERY NIGHT (at least, when I stay up past midnight) and I think it is more than one car because I will sometimes check to see what car it is and sometimes it's a different car. Maybe 2 guys competing?

first off i am sorry, because i have done this.

i am 17 and it is much like the reason why ppl ride rollercoasters. it is for the thrill of driving fast. at midnight there are no other cars around and no children to look out for and police don't seem to be around either, therefore teens like myself like to take advantage of the open stretch of road no matter how short just for the thrill.

if there are more then one car then it is most likely a street race, but street racers usually race at wider roads and not narrow neighborhood roads.

9 out of 10 times, it's a young imature driver. Of those 9, statistics show 5 will be under the influence of drugs or alchohol, and the other 4 are just stupid. Call local law enforcement for selective traffic inforcement on your street, tell them approx what time it occurs.

I know who is doing it. His name is Jeff. Every night at the same time he stops off at White Castle and gets himself a sack of 20. When he is done, the countdown to the dreaded mud butt begins. He knows it is a merely a matter of time before the fun begins and he needs to face it at his homebase. When he gets to short street the little hairs on the back of his neck begin to stand up as the final countdown sequence has begun. As the sweat builds on his brow he needs to speed down your street to make it home for the liftoff...

I agree with sham, i know this guy jeff and thats his MO. You should see him pack away a crave case. Its disguestiong. And when he has to go he HAS to go, its like the congo in the wet season. As far as the other guy? it may be some friends he left at White Castle trying to keep up with him.
