Why does my air conditioner collect so much water?

It seems every night I'm lifting it up so that the back will drain off onto my roof. It's a pain in the a**. Also, if I forget it will wake me up shooting out spray or tiny icechips in the middle of the night.

Be thankful it does it shows it is working; but if it is shooting water out the front you don*t have it leaning back far enough; it should drip out the back end. as it collects humidity from the house thru the front of tconditioner,

Making air cold makes it unable to hold the moisture and it condenses just like on the outside of your icy soda glass. If you are getting a lot of water it means that water is getting into the room. So hot moist air is drifting into your room and the AC is busy drying it out.

Why doesn't the drain work? Did you forget that water runs downhill?

If you had better sealing in the room you'd get less water.

The simple answer is to fix the a/c so it drains onto your roof properly. The water is normal. The way your a/c is sitting is not. Rig it up so that it tilts towards the roof more.

If this is a window unit make sure it is tilted enough towards the outside to drain properly if not adjust it.
If it is not a window unit check your condesate drain hose it probably needs to be washed out this should be done atleast once a year.

You need to check your drain holes and the way you have it set in the window. You might need to turn up the thermostat a little. Hope this helps

there should be a hole for the water to drain out. it's condensation forming.
