I would take NYC and Atlanta. NYC, simply put, is a city of 8,000,000 mostly independent people who love to live life. It is the city that never sleeps; it's also a city with overall friendly and helpful inhabitants, great public transit, gorgeous parks, and people from over 170 nations live there!
Next, Atlanta because it is a beautiful city with great universities, friendly Southern people, incredible nightlife, and it is considerbaly cheaper to live in than NYC.
I can't do:
-Chicago: They have to be the most impolite people I've ever met, or at least tying with Washington, DC. I'm sure it's great to visit, but it can't have anything on NYC.
-Los Angeles: behaves more like a suburb with a small and dead city center.
-San Francisco: its crime rate is exhorbatant! It's more expensive than NYC, too.
-Boston: MA's tax structure is driving companies away; plus, they've reelected Ted Kennedy multiple times! Yuck!

It depends on the type of work. Of the list, Atlanta is the only affordable housing market for the average middle class person. SFO, Boston, LA, NYC, and Chicago would require a much higher salary than Atlanta. And other than SFO, it's the most temperate of the bunch.
If salary wasn't an issue, I'd recommend SFO. It's no more than 3 hours drive to any topography, has a cosmopolitan feel similar to NYC, exceptional arts scene, and unlike the other cities, there is more to do in the outlying areas (Berkeley, Oakland, Palo Alto, Wine Country, and Sausalito to name a few).

Could happen... "We need the Liberal ideology as much as Custer needed another Indian!"The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality. They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong federal government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class. Liberals are open to spend other peoples money. The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy @

I'm sorry but your assumption of people being rude in Chicago is incorrect. How do I know this...... because I have lived in Memphis, Miami, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, NYC, Cleavland and only the Southern states (excluding Florida) were nice, because we all know Florida is just transplanted New Yorkers. Chicago is a World City and if you don't believe that check out the Art, Science, and Field museums. I can't believe you would think the rude and inconsiderate people of NYC would be nicer then all of the other cities! I'm thinking you may not be wanted in any other city but NYC after that assumption!

Atlanta. A new growing city with a lower cost of living and a business friendly atmosphere. Short hop to NYC for trips, shorter hop to the Caribbean for vacation!

Chicago, you can avoid the impolite people if you really want to. San Francisco is a close second - there is crime and homelessness, but it's a great city.

I'd pick Los Angeles. I loved southern California when I was out there. Loved the mountains and the ocean all fairly close. Plus I have family out there.

NYC because I used to live in Queens and I used to haunt Brooklyn and Manhattan when I lived there, so I already know my way around and I'm comfortable there

None of the above. I moved from So. Ca. (LA area) to a small town, and I'll never go back. I now live in the foothills of the Sierras, and I work in Yosemite natl. park.
