It ususally is based on availability of the Dr, and how many scheduled births they have already scheduled. My Dr is inducing me next Monday due to high blood pressure. I will be 37 weeks and 5 days then. They wont induce prior to that.

I was induced for high blood pressure. It really wasn't that high at the time I went into the office, but I guess it was getting higher despite bedrest so my doctor sent me over to the hospital right then and there. He told me to go home get my stuff and go to the hospital. I was 37 wks and 4 days. I'm guessing since this is a planned induction you will have some freedom in when it happens, however, they probably have scheduled "surgery" or other procedure days where the doctor is already at the hospital.
Good luck!

My sister always has to have a c-section because of a troublesome delivery with her second pregnancy. Her doctor tells her that they won't do it until 39 weeks, but after that she gets to pick the date. I had to be induced with both of mine...I was 8 days late with my first, and 7 with my second. I just had to go by the hospital's schedule...sometimes they're really booked and won't take on an induction unless they are pretty confident they'll have the room. My sister-in-law is being induced with her fourth, and they told her as long as the hospital's schedule is ok, she can pick her date. Good luck!

It all depends on you and your condition, but my experience was an attempt to induce. I didnt want to wait until my due date so at my 39 week appt i asked them to just induce me. At that point, the baby is already fully developed.
They tried to induce me, but I wouldnt dialate. They sent me home, but scheduled me to try an easy cath the following day, which dialates you to a three in hopes that will get your labor started. Well, that didnt work either... the dr. gave me the option of going back home and waiting for the baby to come when shes ready or for him to break my water. I didnt want to go back home a second time, so i had him break my water and winded up having a c-section!
I would suggest trying your hardest to wait until your due date. If i could do it all over again, i would rather have my baby come naturally. It just will seem more wonderful that way.
Anyhow, Good luck!

the dr usually has a day or two a week that he keeps open for inducements (mine was a tuesday, but I went into labor naturally before the date). You will probabley be scheduled for closer to 39 weeks.

Yes i had labor induced ,you don't choose anything when it comes to your health.Doctors do they own thing according to what they know its best for you and the baby. They already know why they choose to induce you and if they are any changes they will let you know about it.Don't be afraid its all fine ,i gave birth to a very health baby girl who was lazy to move out my stomach so they induced me for her to start contracting to make her way out.It was fun and a wonderful experience i went through.I really enjoyed the part.

Depending on your OB, he may let you help decide.
I was induced during my last pregnancy and the doctor just said "want to meet me at the hospital at 7 a.m. on Monday?"
I suspect if I had said, "nah, Wednesday would work better for me," he would have said ok.

Usually they will let you choose depending on your doctor's office. Mine let me choose my scheduled c-section day and they gave me the OK for that day. Just ask them, usually they will be willing to work around your schedule.
