My wife is pregnant with our first child and we are trying to decide on a name. We are fairly certain it is a little girl and we like the name Holly. Our problems lies with our last name, it's Greene. Does Holly Greene sound odd? The reason being of course because of the color green. Should we reconsider? Thanks.

I don't think it sounds odd, and I love the name Holly. But if your still unsure about it, you could consider Hallie or Hailey. I think you're fine though!!
Holly Elizabeth Greene sounds really cute! Good Luck & Congrats!

I like Holly. It's sweet, retro, and unusual enough. She shouldn't have to worry about there being other Hollys in her class at school. I think the name, coupled with the last name, is cute. She may get teased a little about it, but kids can make a joke out of ANY name. I think the middle name will be important. Pick something that goes well with the rest of the name.

Hmph. I like the name Holly, too but yes, honestly-Holly Greene sounds kind of funny.

Is this a Christmas related name-in other words is she going to be born in December and you want to name her something Holidayish?

If so, you could consider Noelle or even Mary.

But everyone I have known withe the name Greene has been Jewish so I amy be way off base.

You could use Holly as a middle and do a different first...

Holly Green sound good but it sounds a bit like a pun as Holly is Green, literally! So maybe you should re consider or make it a double name, for example Holly Ann Greene

I like the name Holly but with Greene it does sound a little cheesy. When is her due date? If it's close to Christmas, that might be even worse. How about another H name like Hayden or Hannah?

Honestly, it sounds a little bit odd to me. I love Holly but along with your last name the full name sounds too botanical or gardeny for me. Kind of like Rose Sweet or Heaven Starr.

But as far as names go Holly Greene certainly isn't terrible and if you are really in love with the name I think it is fine to go with it. If your daughter really doesn't like it she can always change it later.

Holly is an adorable name, and should be fine paired with Greene. Look at Hallie Berry- sure her name is slightly different from Holly, but close enough, and no one thinks it's a weird combo.

No! Holly Greene is a nice name! Besides...giving her a middle name will not make it seem "odd" like you're referring

lol well first, I see where you are coming from, thanks to Holly bushes being green. If you want an "H" name and are truly afraid of Holly Greene, you can reconsider Hallie, Hailey, Hannah, Harmony, Helen, Helena, Heidi

Good luck, just remember in the end, this is your child and they will eventually be adults lol.
