While there is no conclusive evidence of a connection between lunar cycles, and the infradian menstrual rhythm there have been some speculation that it is a remnant of some distant nocturnal ancestor of diurnal mammals, and is probably related to some hormone regulation mechanism that used lunar phase to control secretion. Once again I emphasize that this is not accepted by most scientist and is only speculation.

If it were actually based on the moon, don't you think that all women would be synchronized? About the only physical effects the moon has on the earth are through gravity and the light that it reflects. (oh yeah, it's a last-chance meteor deflector too, but that's indirect, now isn't it?)
If the Moon's gravity had the effect on one woman, it would be more or less the same all around the world, so they'd all be similarly affected. It's a coincidence. There is such a thing, yaknow?

Because the universe is connected. If you look at the Mayan calender, which is more accurate than our gregorian calender, it was on a 28 day cycle. The more interesting question is why do women that hang out alot together end up changing there cycle to coincide with each other?

The frequency of the moon oscilation relative to the sun is equal to 13 cycle per year. The side real month is 27.5 days which is very close to 28 days.
so the frequency of the female menstruation is aprox.=13 in one year.

Is it? Mine parallels Saturn. Maybe yours matches the 'looney' cycle.
