I went to Todai (japanese buffet) in Portland (they are a chain though so may be where you are too) I only had my wife with me, not the 2-3 mentioned above, so I think you just need one other paying customer.

When you sign up on their website(see link below) it does ask for your birth date. Just for signing up you get a free appetizer. I know that on your bday they sing you a song & give you a free personal sized cake. I know Friendlies gives you free icecream on your bday. Bugaboo Creek sings a song & does the cake thing.
