I have a 07 Pontiac G6, and I wanted to know an inexpensive (less than $100) way to make my car sound louder through the muffler like a motorcycle or a race car. What do I need to do?

How To Make A Muffler

If you want it louder, drill or punch a couple of holes in the muffler and then start the car. If you want it louder, make a couple more holes in the muffler and keep repeating the process until you achieve the sound level you like. Just keep in mind that this will likely shorten the lifespan of those mufflers. The other option is to replace the factory mufflers with an aftermarket version. Just go to any muffler shop and tell them the stock exhaust is too quiet for your liking and you want something louder. They can install something more to your liking.

Cheapest way to do it is to buy a performance muffler, like flowmaster, take it to a muffler shop, and have it welded in place of your stock muffler. But I don't think you can do it for under $100.

Considering your cars an 07, I would make sure you spend the right amount to upgrade your exhaust system the right way.

Good luck...

Haha, well since you don't want to spend money. The cheapest way..... Get yourself a drill, 1/4" drill bit, and have at the muffler. Personaly think your crazy to do that anything cheap to a new vehicle, at least put a new muffler on.

Oh, and kiss your warranty goodbye. It will be void instantly. So if your transmission blows up the day after you mess with your exhaust, they won't replace it.

Use a screwdriver and a hammer and knock as many hole in the muffler as it takes to get the right sound.

Cut the muffler open then remove all the baffles inside and weld muffler back together. Or, just remove the muffler and weld a straight thru pipe.

2007 G6 :

Flowmaster Original 40 series muffler:
I got the catback 2.5" single exhaust to retain the sleeper rear fascia.
The Flowmaster 40 is one of my most favorite modifications to date for maximum throughput and great sound.

I love the growl at low RPMs and the scream at WOT.
