I like a lot of Paul McCartney's music, but he is NOWHERE near the genuis Gershwin was. Silly Love Songs versus Rhapsody in Blue? No contest.

By the way, I think Paul would agree.

George Gershwin! Most of the great work Paul McCartney did was with the Beatles where he had John Lennon and when he went solo the music was pretty good but not near as great!

Gershwin's has had a longer time to stand the test, but McCartney's insipid lyrics do stick with you.

I vote for Gershwin.

You're comparing apples and oranges. And don't forget that neither of them worked alone--George Gershwin had Ira, and Sir Paul had John Lennon, so you can't always tell who wrote what when it comes to Beatles music (they shared the credit).

They were both good. I can never choose when it comes to the best because everyone has different taste. The same goes for movies, clothes, food, lovers. If everyone liked the same things, this would be a boring world.
