I'd say Mia Hamm after winning 4 National championships at North Carolina, 2 USA Women's National Team FIFA World Cup Championships, 1 USA Women's National Team FIFA World Cup Third Place, and 2 Women's National Team Olympic Golds that she is somewhat influential. She was the best female soccer player in the world.

Mia Hamm and Brandy Chastain by far are. They are the most talented in the women's circuit. The reason you here more about the men is because although women's soccer has come a long way it is still struggling to get players, funding and recognition world wide. There hasn't been w whole lot of great players coming up after Mia Hamm and the fab five in comparison to other sports where there are consistently new crops of superstar players coming forward and being known. A great example of this is Tennis, where there is high talent and recognition in both genders and while you had the days of Mackinrow and Maureen Conolly Brinker you still are getting great players today with Andre Federer and the Williams sisters.

As many people would say Mia Hamm I have to argue. Yes Mia Hamm is an idol for soccer girls across the country but I think Michelle Akers is probably the most influential women in soccer. She endorsed the sport first and helped lead soccer in the U.S. into an intense level of play. She is on of my favorite players of all time.
