The new pack should have started Friday, but I hadn't checked my cell phone battery for a few days and it was dead so my alarm didn't go off. I recharged the phone Sunday and so that's when the alarm went off and I realized I should have started a new pack. The slip said in the event that you miss 2 pills in Week 1 or 2, to take 2 when you remember, and 2 again the next day at the regular time and use a backup method for 7 days. So i took 2 last night and will take 2 tonight. A backup method isn't a problem now, but Saturday and Sunday morning my boyfriend and I did have sex without a barrier method. Should I use a back-up for just 7 days or the whole month? Is the risk increased because I missed directly after taking a week of inactive pills? Also, how long after possible conception would a.) at home, and b.) clinic pregnancy test be effective?

I would call your OBGYN now and ask there advice I have missed up to four pills in a row and used NO back up methods and still didn't get pregnant but ever woman is different so I would call your doctor to be on the safe side because if you are pregnant taking those birth control pills can be very harm full to the baby hope this helps you

I would ask your doctor that question, if you are going to use the pill you should know that answer in case you miss a day. Better yet, I have a book for you to read, it's called Taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. I have just started to get into it and I can't believe I didn't learn this stuff in school. Our bodies tell us exactly when we are going to ovulate if we pay attention to the physical indicators each day. iT'S SO AMAZING! Taking your temperature, testing your cervical fluid and the size of the cervix every day are scientifically accurate ways to chart and follow our natural cycle each month. I am learning so much about my body and I am already 33! I think this book is the bomb. I went out and bought a thermometer today and can't wait to try it. The reason is: I don't want to take the pill because the false hormones can cause cancer and it just feels so medically contrived. I would rater spend the time to learning about my body well and plan during ovulation not to have sex or to wear a condom.

Personally, just to be extra safe, I'd start a whole new pack. Even though it's wasting a lot of money and it sucks, better to be safe than sorry. But otherwise talk to your doc, and use a backup method for at least a week.

NOT TAKING THE INACTIVE IS OK AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TAKING THE REST. I WOULD USE A BACK UP FOR AT LEAST THE SEVEN DAYS BUT USE IT UNTIL YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE NOT. THE HOME OR CLINIC TEST CANNOT TELL UNITL YOU HAVE MISSED YOU PERIOD. (THATS WHY THEY SAY 5 DAYS AFTER YOUR MISSED ONE) A BLOOD TEST IS THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW AND IT TAKES LIEK 2 WEEKS FOR THE HORMONE THAT SAYS YOU ARE PREGNANT TO SHOW UP.

use a back up for at least 2 weeks....dont take any chances. depending on when your period is, give it 2 weeks to take a prego test, I am SURE you are not though if you only missed 1 day the next day you had sex.

I would just use a back up for 7 days like the pamphlet said.
