Don't freak out until you've talked to the nurse. The receptionist is not allowed to give test results out, most doctors have that policy.

Not really. The person you talked to obviously wasn't a nurse, but one of the front desk help employees. And they don't give out test results, they let the nurses do it. As far as the concern in her voice, it may be that she was just having a bad day or was irritated about something else. I wouldn't think anything bad just because of her voice. But if you do have, let's say cervical cancer, if you've been getting regular pap tests, it's highly treatable. Any pre-cancerous cells will show up on a
pap even before the cancer is present so more than likely you'll be able to stop it before it develops into anything. So don't worry! Hope this eases your mind.

Don't be worried until you hear from the nurse.

Perhaps the woman was not authorized to disclose any information over the phone and the nurse was unavailable.

Try not to worry until you talk to a nurse. I know at my doctors only nurses can give you test results.
