He's definitely over-rated.
He didn't do anything too spectacular in the SuperBowl - the refs just seemed to give them the game.
And he was very average last year. If his injuries made him average, he shouldn;t have been playing.

I think the best way I've seen him described is Trent Dilfer in a bigger package, aka Ben Roethlisdilfer. Both of them are only successful when they have a great defense and running game and both of them can only be effective when they have to throw the ball less than 20 times a game. Since the defense has been dismantled and has aged over the last couple years, since they don't have the same 1-2 punch in the running game that they had with the Bus and Parker and since they have a new head coach - I see Big Ben doing a giant belly flop this season. He'll have to throw the ball more than he's capable of doing, which will lead to many an interception and a low, low completino percentage and QB rating. This season is going to be a train wreck for him.

I'm a die hard Steelers fan always have been and always will....and I have to say this is the season that will make or break his career.
#1 Steelers have always been a team that runs the ball, guess what the first 2 years Ben fit into their game plan, it worked so why change it.
#2 Despite what anyone says about last year's performance, I would love to see anyone person on here or in the world for the matter go through what he did and comeback to play the majority of the season in the NFL. He was injured and not 100% you can't hold him completely accountable.
#3 This will be a pivotal year for him to prove himself coming off of last year's flop and losing key pieces to the team, The Bus, and Cowher. There could be a lot of change in the next few years with the new coach, and their offense could be a big part of that, but going back to the first statement, if you can run the ball why throw it? It works.

He was a joke when he 1st. got into the league.
This year will tell all, it will either make or break him as a professional.
Before he had many weapons and a great defense.
This year he has much less. The years he have spent in this League should have groomed him for just this.
Now don't get me wrong, on offense The Steelers are still good. and will have no problem moving the ball.
They have The most underrated receiver in the history of the NFL, and he's as good as any of the best that has every played.
The have a great running back in Parker. They have a good tight end in Miller. And a solid Offensive line.
But before if Ben made a mistake, his defense would come in a save him. He cant make those same silly mistakes.
This year will tell you if Ben will be a " Bet " or a " Bust "

He's not the best QB, but one of the most clutch just like Eli Eli and Ben are not as accurate and good as Romo, Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rivers, but Big Ben and Eli are much more clutch. I can't really call a player with 2 SB rings overrated. But definately there is better QBs in the NFL than Big Ben. Eli just plain sucks

It's funny how everybody bashes Big Ben for last year. The muthafucker almost died people! How good would you play if you were in a near fatal accident 2 months before the season started? Probably not very good. Then he had an emergency appendectomy, so by the time he started again he was about 30 lbs. below his playing weight. He is now 100% for the first time in almost 2 years. Even when he led the Steelers to the Super Bowl XL title, he was nursing a broken thumb. How many of you can say that? Watch him this year, he'll be back to his old self managing games like he did when he took a wildcard team to the Super Bowl. He's got "Fast" Willie Parker, Najeh Davenport, and Kevan Barlow to hand the ball to and all they have to do is follow Dan Krieder right up the gut. Then he's got Hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, and Dallas Baker to throw to. He'll have a good year, just you idiots watch.

Ben Roethlisberger is a joke. He came in and the Steelers ran the ball 40 times a game and he threw 15 times. If you stop the run and make him throw the ball 20+ times he will give you the game. A lot of people licked his nuts before last year, but last year was the real Big Ben.

FIrst off, i dont think he's overrated. no one puts him in the top 10. he is in the mid tier, 11-15, in any QB rankings page. and thats about right. he may break into the top 10, but it will be just barely.
He had a LOT of setbacks last year. Motorcycle accident, and then an emergency appendectomy, and then he clearly (Hindsight being 20/20) returned too soon. he should have sat out the 1st 3, they would have got to their bye week, and he could have returned then.
that being said, i think he is more the 17 TD- 9 INT QB he was 2 years ago rather than the 20 TD- 23 INT QB he was last year. he has shown poise in the pocket, and a presense of mind that is not flukey. last year's downturn in performance was the fluke. he'll get his chances this year, and he should do well. look for about an 18-10 season, with about 3200 yards. nothing flashy, but very efficient. and good enough to get the Steelers back to the playoffs.

Overrated I don't know, but I do think he will have a decent season this year. I believe the Steelers rushed him back too early from the accident last year. I don't think he will never be one of the top QBs in the game, but he will be solid one.

I think he'll put up less-than-average numbers, but he's still better than their backup, Charlie Batch. If you're asking from a fantasy football standpoint, I would definitely get someone better, but Ben would be a solid backup QB.
