Disagree.

This will help solve the problem...the farther we get from earth, the less problems we will have.

I disagree. Space travel is a technical problem, going to the moon or Mars is an extension of things we have already done. It is possible for one group to do everything needed, ignoring the other groups and their problems. Feeding starving people, curing AIDS, fighting terrorism can be done or not. But solving those problems won't help to build a rocket, so space travel can be done without them. It might be you think one of those other problems is a better thing to spend tax money on. But space travel seems to be the easier task, and the other problems not being solved do not stop it.

Why do you assume that colonizing Mars or the Moon would have no positive effect on this planet? The primary threat to the survival of the human species is that of overpopulation. Colonies elsewhere in the solar system would be a fine solution to this problem.

Agree, I don't think planets have a Solid Earth surfaces as Mars and the Moon, we can't do it on the Sun its too many and its not a Solid Surface either.

I do have to wonder If the NASA of today is up to the project. These aren't the same bunch that put us on the Moon.

I hate to say it, but there are considerable military advantages to a permanent Moon base. With the difference in gravities, it would very easy to drop rocks with megatons of force, with little expense and no fallout.

I can neither agree nor disagree. But I will say that the idea / goal does not surprise me.How many people do you know have actually solved a problem without creating another one to take it's place? Diversions happen. and we all stay focused on problems.

Yes. No. It is possible but would be WAY more expensive than the one built in Earth orbit, due to the cost of transporting the parts and supplies all the way to Mars. The one orbiting Earth has cost about $200 Billion (so far).

Neat question.

I disagree, although I understand your point of view. However, the qualities that make us who we are include not only an insatiable search for knowledge but also nagging ignorance and intolerance. Weird, but I think this balance of good/bad, dark/light makes us what we are. Whether you call it "intelligent life" is another matter :-)

Good luck.

People have different priorities. We don't want to get left behind regarding space exploration. There is much to be learned and power to be gained.
