one glass is ok. My Dr. said that it is actually good for you and your baby. More than one wouldn't be good. If you wanna be on the safe side my Dr. said to wait about 2 hours before feeding or pumping again. And if you ever do go out and get drunk...remember for the next 24 hours your have to pump and dump:-) Good luck!!

breastfeed right before you have the wine... and nurse when baby is ready again.

"Alcohol peaks in mom's blood and milk approximately 1/2-1 hour after drinking (but there is considerable variation from person to person, depending upon how much food was eaten in the same time period, mom's body weight and percentage of body fat, etc.). Alcohol does not accumulate in breastmilk, but leaves the milk as it leaves the blood; so when your blood alcohol levels are back down, so are your milk alcohol levels."

Pumping and dumping is outdated. It's not necessary. We now know that alcohol metabolizes out of milk at the same rate it metabolizes out of the blood.

One glass is fine, no need to worry. It's best to wait until your head feels clear, but if you're eating while drinking, your head will probably stay clear, right?

Remember that your milk with .005% alcohol in it is still far healthier than formula!

Cheers!

It has been awhile since I nursed, but I think you are supposed to pump and discard milk for the next feeding and just use stored milk or supplement with formula. It seems like I read that in a book titled 'Babies First Year'.

One glass is no biggie, but more than that you should wait a day. Just remember to pump to get the alcohol out!

if you only have one glass it is safe to brestfeed but you should drink right after you feed. Remember that alcohal dehydrates you so also drink a couple of extra glasses of water so you can produce enough milk.

It's ok for just one glass. You can skip the next feeding by pumping it out if you concern.

One glass is no biggie, you can nurse and it should not effect your baby.
But if your worried, you need to wait 2 hours...pump and dump then you can feed with no problem.
