The Indians now have their manager Eric Wedge through 2010. He started managing with the Indians in 2003 during the early part of their rebuilding mode. He has a 373-366 record as a manager(all with the Tribe). His 373 wins are 7th most in Indians history. Now the question is, do you think this is a good move or not? Why or why not?

I think its a good move for them, I mean, look at it realistically. He has the Indians sitting at 54-37 in a prime battle for the post season. The team has a total payroll of $61,673,267, which is less than half of what the Yankees spend on a mediocre team that is 9 games out in a crappy division. Not only are the Indians close to the top, but they're doing in a very tough division with arguably the best team in baseball (Tigers) barely above them and arguably one of the best 2nd half teams (Twins) behind them. Not only has Eric Wedge done a good job managing this ballclub (along with their hitting and pitching coaches) but you've seen the emergence of some of their players. Victor Martinez is on the way to his best season ever, as is Grady Sizemore, Casey Blake, Jhonny Peralta and Ryan Garko. Look at what Fausto Carmona is doing this year too. Eric Wedge is getting everything out of his players that he wants and they're rewarding him quite nicely.

i think this is a fantastic move the indians are gonna be a playoff team for the next 5-6 years,we can contend more if the indians pick up another veteran player before the deadline, maybe Kenny Lofton, put grady in left i mean look at that catch he made tonight that was in left, the veteran leadership of lofton would really help wedge and the tribe

Well the Indians are doing great right now so I dont see a reason why they should change. He's taken them from cosistently being in the bottom of the AL Central, to now being in contention for a playoff spot. He's made guys like Grady Sizemore, Victor Martinez, Travis Hafner, into superstars.

this is a great move. Most Indians fans seem to like hime as well as the players. Also the Indians always seem to play for him. He has done a great job with the tribe.

Great move, he is a good baseball man and a good guy. The players want to win for the guy and he is a player's coach from the old school.

not sure, he sure has improved from last year, he actually has people bunt over, he knows when to take pitchers out and leave them in now. He has improved alot as a manager over the past few years, So I would say it's an alright move.

i think its an excellent move. his specialty is working with young players and the Tribe are notorius for replacing vets with great prospects when they cant afford to pay them any longer.
