do people care about espn's ESPY awards, i mean they dont air it live...the awards dont go on a players resume like you'll never hear barry bonds, homerun king, 3 time espy award winner...or anything like this. Does anyone take these awards seriously.

No, not really. It's just a way for ESPN to justify their own pathetic existence. And by the way, what's up with that clown Stuart Scott? Could he be any more annoying? If he uses that lame phrase "cooler than the other side of the pillow" just one more time I swear I'm gonna LOSE IT!!!

I think it's the most embarrassing spectacle on ESPN, which is saying something. It makes the Kids Choice Awards look like the Nobel awards ceremony. I love sports, but it's almost painful listening to some of those guys trying so hard to be funny and/or articulate.

No, not really. They might as well just rename it the NFL Awards Show. Since the ESPYs started almost every time an NFL player or team is one of the nominees they win. I'm pretty sure football players/teams completely swept every category they were nominated in this year.

Seriously? Absolutely not. But it is a semi-amusing sporting-related event that is held during a lull time of year for your average (American) sports fan. It's one of those things that your (we) hard core sports fans say, "Oh what the heck, checking this out will amuse me for a bit in the absense of an event that really matters." And it usually is entertaining and usually recognizes those who deserve to win sans politics.

A serious award? No. Would I miss it if it disapeared never to take place again? No. Will I check it out every year until it does? Yep.

It might have been easier to take seriously before they showed Lebron James out there singing Bobby Brown with parachute pants and a bad fade!!
