Does anyone out there know the real reason why a mother who is breastfeeding is not allowed or shouldn't donate plasma? I found info that stated a mother whose milk supply is well established and who is healthy would be able to give blood but I don't know if donating plasma is much different and would cause any side effects other than decreased fluids in the mom.

besides a potential of hypovolemia, i can not think of any good reasons, i don't that the hormones in a lactating woman are high enough to cause hormonal problems in the recepient. a blood bank could tell you better, good luck
