Target
Walmart
JC Penney
Kohls

Those are where I got most my maternity clothes and they were fairly cheap!

Old Navy has very cute, stylish, affordable maternity clothes. JC Penney does too, surprisingly enough. I got a lot of nice clothes for work there and they weren't that expensive.

Motherhood is usually pretty good - they've come a long way in creating stylish looks. They also have great maternity bras and panties.

Try a consignment store too. You might be able to find some good clothing (GAP, Mimi Maternity, etc) at cheaper prices. Just think...someone probably only wore them for about 5 or 6 months so they should be in pretty good condition!

I think what you purchase for maternity clothes really depends on your lifestyle and personal circumstances?

Are you working? Do you have the kind of job that you have to be fashionable or at least well dressed? Then you will need at least a few nice outfits to carry you through the end of your pregnancy (and beyond...it usually takes women a little bit to fit back into their regular clothes).

I was working out of my home when I was pregnant so it really didn't matter what I looked like. I bought my first pregnancy pants (the pants, obviously are more important than anything) at Target and started wearing them around 16 weeks. I bought the ones with the elastic waist that is meant to sit below your belly but without a stretchy tummy panel, too early for that. Target's maternity line does a nice job of labeling at what stage the item of clothing is good for.

Otherwise, I didn't invest too much money on clothes I knew I would want to throw out at the end of my pregnancy. I basically lived in some borrowed Gap maternity jeans and khakis and some oversized sweaters (I was at my biggest in the winter and gave birth in March).

You don't say what kind of budget you are looking at but my philosophy is only to spend the minimum you need to on maternity clothes so Old Navy, Gap, Target are all good choices. The stuff is fashionable enough without breaking the bank. Better yet, borrow stuff from girlfriends who've been there or go to a second-hand shop. You can also just use some oversized shirts or drawstring pants.

If you've got a huge budget, go for it. There are plenty of designer maternity labels out there these days. But even then, I'd say, why not save the money to buy a new wardrobe AFTER the baby is born. You'll have earned it and deserve it. I know a woman who just altered all her old clothes but cutting out the tops of the pants and sewing in stretchy panels just so she'd have an excuse to buy new clothes when it was all over.

Oh and one thing I'd avoid: maternity underwear. Who wants outrageously expensive underwear that goes up to their armpits!!?? I just stuck with my low-slug bikinis and let them sit below my growing belly -- much more comfy.

Last year when I was pregnant, I bought about 90% of my maternity clothes at Old Navy. I figuered I would only wear them temporary so I didn't want to spend too much. Check out your local store and even the website. The selection is pretty big. The jeans and capris are very comfortable. I also bought there maternity under shirts...which I love. I still wear them. The prices are very inexpensive, so you don't have to feel like your always wearing the same thing. You can get alot for your money...

I've found a lot of great maternity clothes at Old Navy, and they're rather inexpensive. Motherhood also has decent clothes and prices, though I find their sizes run a bit small (kind of depressing considering we're all getting bigger!). Check out the juniors sections of department stores...they have a lot of flowy shirts and empire waisted dresses this season that are probably on sale by now and are super cute and stylish! Good luck :)

I'm in my 13th week, and I still buy my clothes from regular clothing stores! I just find shirts that are flowy, and that are a little longer and more concealing. As with pants, if you are going to wear maternity pants, Motherhood Maternity has some really cute styles that look like regular jeans. Good luck!

Motherhood Maternity is pretty cheap...but not all that stylish. Ive gotten most of my maternity clothes online at oldnavy.com and theyre pretty reasonable. If you shopped at old navy before, the maternity sizes are the same size as before you were pregnant, so theres no guessing on size, which is nice. Good luck to you and congrats :)

I found lots of stuff on motherhood.com on sale that isn't too expensive. You also might want to check out Fashion Bug and Burlington Coat Factory. I've bought some stuff from Fashion Bug that worked great for office wear, and BCF is supposed to have really nice maternity clothes that are really cheap.

Target. They have a great line. I got the basics: one pair of jeans, one khaki, one other dress pant, plus three true maternity tops, all in solid colors, and a black stretchy skirt. They got me by without spending a lot. While around the house I was able to wear my old, big stuff, and hubby's clothes.

Target and I believe some Wal-Marts are now carrying maternity clothes. What I did was borrow clothes from other friends that had maternity clothes that no longer needed them. Congrats!
