1. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: remember the forbidden 3rd floor corridor that lead to the trapdoor where the Stone was hidden (and where Fang was, ready to bite anyone's head off)? Why was the door so badly protected that it could be opened with just Alohomora (a simple spell, at least to older students)? And don't say it's because our first-year heroes had to be able to get in or there wouldn't have been an adventure...

2. Why does Madam Hooch have yellow eyes?

Sorry, I meant Fluffy (not Fang), of course.
People in the wizarding world usually have the same physical caracteritics as Muggles (unless they have some special magical traits like being Metamorphmagi or "half-breeds"). So, I still don't think it's normal for Madam Hooch to have yellow eyes (unless she's not entirely human).

As for the argument that the warning about the "painful death" would be enough to stop students from going in there, that's a school! And everyone knows that the best way to get most people (especially kids) to go somewhere is to tell them not to do it and to suggest there's something misterious about the place. I'm surprised Fred and George didn't try! And finding themselves face to face with Fluffy would be dangerous by itself, even if people were not trying to get past him or didn't know anything about the trapdoor, the other obstacles or the Stone.

1.Most likely, the teachers assumed that none could get past fluffy. quirrel wouldn't have gotten in without tricking hagrid
2. why not? what's wrong with yellow eyes in a wizard's world?

1. Fang is Hagrid's oversized bloodhound. Fluffy was the three-headed dog guarding the trap door. I don't think that opening the door would be a big deal. They would have to get past Fluffy, devil's snare, get the right key, figure out the logic puzzle, win a chess match, and then not want to use the stone to get it. A better locked door wouldn't have stopped a person who could do all that.

2. I don't think JKR ever explains why she has yellow eyes. Probably not important.

It wasn't the door that had to be protected, it was the trap door leading to all the traps/puzzles and finally the stone. Dumbledore likely figured anyone would have been able to get past the door itself, but he had to expect it would be harder getting past Fluffy (Fluffy was Hagrid's three-headed dog, Fang's his boar hound he has in his cabin). Had Hagrid not given away the secret of how to calm Fluffy down, it's likely no one could have gotten past him.

As for Madam Hooch's eyes, no clue why she has yellow eyes. Their described as yellow, hawk-like eyes, so maybe she's a half-breed. Half human and half something else. Or maybe she magically altered her eyes so as to increase her vision. We know from Goblet of Fire that when Madam Pomfrey was fixing Hermione's teeth after she'd suffered that jinx which enlarged them beyond their normal size that Hermione let her adjust them to a size that was smaller than normal. That seems fairly easy to do, but it does suggest it's possible to alter body parts in ways that are not the human norm but for which a witch or wizard might have a use for.

1.first off i think u mean fluffy not fang because fang is hagrid's dog that lives in his cabin, fluffy is the 3 headed doggie. i think that the professors assumed that by warning no idiot students would go there let alone try to get in! they did not know that the heroes as u call them had to get in there. and if u remember : once through the trap door there were obstacles... there were several potion bottles in which the person has to drink one. there was the flying key thing, the chess...

2. she has those eyes because that is how she is. some people do! it is just like green or blue eyes!

1. Well, I'm pretty sure student would see Fluffy before they go far into the room (the trio had other worries at the time).

2. Does it matter if Madam Hooch has yellow eyes? But i think I read on some website about her eyes being like hawk eyes. I'm not quite sure though.

Hi!!!!!!

Number 1. Well, partly I think the teachers thourght it would be too well guarded, partly bevcause they students had been TOLD not to go through the door na d partly because Dumbledore probably knew Harry was going to do it - Harry says so in the book (to prove himself or whatever).

Number 2. Well, hawks have yellow eyes so I guess they are supposed to be like that!

Great questions though!!

1. Because if someone tells you not to open a door unless you want to suffer a painful death, and you open it anyway, you are retarded.

2. Maybe she has contact lenses?
