Is it in a safe neighborhood? Any hotels in the area you'd recommend? How far is the nearest airport?

I tried to find the info myself, but was greeted by a very disturbing picture and (war) message on their website! Now I can't get to it at all.... I think it was hacked today.

Downtown Cincinnati is very safe during the day. There is a ton to do and there is always something going on. At night, it can get a little shady, but as long as you stay in well lit areas you will be fine. If you are going to the US Bank Arena, you will be fine. I have been there several times at night for different events and have felt totally safe. You can either take a taxi to/from you hotel or park in the parking lot. If there is an event going on, there will likely be several police officers there.

The closest airport is in Northern Kentucky which is just across the bridge. It is probably a 10 minute drive to downtown Cincy.

Cincinnati's airport is actually in Northern Kentucky, about 15 minutes from the arena.

The arena really isn't in a neighborhood - it sits along the river next to the baseball stadium. Right across the river from the arena, though, is a nice area called Newport on the Levee - there are restaurants and opportunities for nightlife there. Going to the arena is safe, as long as you are choosy about where you park. If you are skittish, I would recommend parking under the baseball stadium or, if you are going to stay at one of the hotels in downtown Cincinnati (a few blocks north of the arena), call for a taxi.

And if you care about trivia, far and away the most interesting fact about US Bank Arena is that eleven people died there in 1979 in a rush for seats at a concert by The Who. Not that you'll have to worry about that this time!

Well Tony, let me preface my answer with my wonderment of the same thing since the mid-1970's. Unfortunately for Seattle, the NHL has enforced a policy of keeping teams where they are despite their financial situations, or how many suitors they may have. Plus, there is idle talk of expansion and Las Vegas and Kansas City are on the "A" list. Even if the Seattle team was within the teritorial righhts of Vancouver, I believe the Canucks would be more amenable to allowing a team to establish itself in Seattle than the Maple Leafs and Sabres would in Hamilton. The distances are greater between most western teams, so having another stop on the circuit would help. The arena situation absolutely is a key step toward attracting a team. I am still shocked at the Sonics move to OKC. All in all, even as much as I'd be open to Seattle joining the NHL, I really can't see it happening in the foreseeable future.

It's downtown right next to the Cincinnati Reds Great American Ball park. You can stay either in downtown Cincy or across the river in Northern Kentucky. Closest Airport would be the Cincinnati-northern KY. But it will be cheaper if you fly into Dayton, Louisville or Columbus.

Its right downtown. Which means its an OK area during the day, but gets a little shady at night. Im not sure how much oyu are looking to spend, but you could stay at the Cincinnatian or the downtown Hilton, both are very nice.
