i'm 12 and want to start acting but i cant sing. I would rather not act live that way if i mess up it will be okay. Can some one give advice on how to start???

Don't listen to New York Gal, its ok if you mess up, thats what rehearsal is for! If you should mess up, the only ones to know are you and the director. The only way the audience knows is if you giggle or make some kind of face.
As for singing, its practice. Check around for voice teachers or ask your school's music teacher if they would know anyone.

Are you sure you want to act? There's a distinction between acting and being famous. Actors enjoy acting 'live'.
Don't mean to discourage you by writing the above but if it's acting you want to do, I'd say first build up your confidence and skill to be able to do both theater and film/tv. Directors prefer versatile actors.
I think you can do that by engaging in school plays, voice coaching, improv classes etc.

im 12 too and i really want to be a film actress for the same reasons as u (cant sing and like having chances ot redo and experirment.) i am taking classes right now and auditioning for plays in my area. i think it is the best way to start just to get some experience. i am also taking a film acting class. hey you should email me (doctor_pepper94@yahoo.com)

i am 11 and want to start acting too. i took a camp this summer but i dont think that is enough. i have been in some plays at my schools.

First you have to get in plays which are liveand to build up your resume. You might want to get a voice coach and they can help you learn to sing.
