I live by the moral standards that my parents set for me as a child...I do not think I have the right to tell other how to live their lives, as that is their business. I do not need a higher power to tell me what is right and wrong. I do not have a problem with religious people, just think they should stay out of other people's lives.

Just because you don't know what their standards are doesn't mean they don't have them. They're just different, person to person. And you don't have to be Christian to have moral standards. In fact, to someone who has them, it's disgusting to watch a Christian claim the moral high ground and then give it up. Like, say, certain senators who bash liberals on morality and then call whores.
Nobody hates Christians more than terrorists. They criticize certain Christians because they are the ones right here in this country trying to take away the same freedoms the terrorists would like to take away. Everyone hates terrorists, but there's no reason to talk about that because it's a given.
You're problem is that you assume things instead of asking - until this question, of course. Good for you for finally asking.

I don't make a habit of "bashing" Christians, Jeff.
What would you like to question about my "moral standards?"
Some specifics would be nice.
Personally, I was raised Lutheran and worked within the church as a youth, actually writing and performing services for young people.
I got married, raised a fine son, and it will be our 37th anniversary this August.
We make it a point to share some of our good fortune with those in need and we contribute in terms of time, goods and money to local charities.
That being said, we do not hate other people simply based on their ethnicity or religion.
So, we can talk some more on this if you'd like to show me where Christians are being "bashed" in this forum.

I bash the Christan right because they are hypocrites. It has nothing to do with their religion or lack there of. Just the fact that they label themselves as such and don't practice what they say they believe in.
I could really care less if they are christian or believe in Santa Claus. Its when they begin to shove their beliefs down my throat and try to get them passed into the laws that govern this country.
I have high moral standards, but I don't flaunt them and tell other people they should live like I do. I have my own personal relationship with the almighty. The only difference is, I believe in live and let live and the separation of church and state. If I wanted to live in a theocracy I would move to the middle east.

So you stoop to McCarthyism, because you have such a weak argument.
Just because I choose not to spend my Sundays in church, and have issues with the hypocrisy of the catholic dogma, indeed organized religion as a whole, doesn't mean I am a Islamic terrorist sympathizer.
Strange as it maybe to you, but I don't need a priest to tell me what's right and wrong, what to believe, what to think, how to vote, and how to live. And I certainly don't want the pope telling me what to do in the bedroom.
That's what a conscience and common sense are for.
I'm not religious, but God and I have a good relationship, and I consult His "dummies guide to life" when I have a question that needs a deeper answer, or I feel troubled.

My moral standard is, "Never try to win an argument by using stereotypes or generalizations about people. This is the weakest and most illogical form of argument.
For example, if 10 buses with Senior Citizens arrive at a Casino for a gambling excursion, can we fairly conclude that ALL senior citizens ride buses to gamble at casinos?

let's see, you take a political leaning side and compare it to a religious leaning side. I'm sure there are those on the left that are Christians. Then you mention a third party, a made up right wing term ( Islamofacist) and state how they would like to behead the political leaning side. Christianity and Islam are both made up religions, enacted centuries after Jesus Christ and Muhammad died. Believe in your faith if you want but don't politicize it, that's just sad.

Humanism.
Christians and Islamists have each in their time used their religious faith to commit atrocities. How many genocides have been related to religion?
To this day genital mutilation on children continues--and I'm talking about both female and male circumcisions, which are medically unnecessary (teaching proper hygiene can be as effective, health-wise, for boys), extremely painful and created in the first place to try and please a God who would actually want you to do something like that to your child.
Relgion has no claim to moral high ground, I'm sorry.

First of all, who are "the left"? If you are talking about Kucinich, then the moral standards he and Ron Paul live by is refraining from starting wars of aggression. "Christians" who fight other Christians and moderate Muslims (such as Fikret Abdic), in favor of Islamofascists who were in the SS (such as Ali Izetbegovic), are not any better then the latter, I would say they are even worse.
