what is its function what we can do is taht it increases hardisk space, ram or somthing alse.
Or it can be used as a storage of data lik Flase Drive

Yes your'e right. its an expansion port and its been used for all that. you can get a harddrive that goes there or connects by that. you can get phone modems for internet dial up....and also theres card readers too for reading any of the digital storeage

A pc card provides a capability that is not currently built into the laptop or a supplemental capabiality to what is already built into it.

For example, laptops no longer have the 9 pin serial port built in. If you need serial connections, you can purchase and install a pcmcia serial card, slide it in, activate the drivers, and now you have a serial port. If your notebook does not have a built in wireless port, you can purchase and install a pcmcia wireless card and you now have wireless capability.

You can add more USB ports, etc using the appropriate card.

One word - expansion.
Before laptops had built in NICs, wireless, USB ports etc the PCMCIA card provided those features.

Now they aren't used as much because those features are already installed into the laptop.

Yes they do make PC card sized hard drives.
