I didn't get mine until I was 14. Everybody is different and a few things make a difference. When did your mother start? Are you in sports? Do you maintain a healthy body weight? Many girls that are active in sports have a delayed period, and if you are not at a healthy body weight this could also cause a late start. If you are truly worried about then talk to your mother or physician.

No my best friend was normal weight and everything and didnt get hers until she was 15. then she didnt get hers again until she was 17. She wasnt taking any drugs or anything. Everyone is radically different. I know someone who got theirs when they were nine. I would recommend getting lots of iron from beans and green leafy vegetables to get yourself ready and maybe cutting down on caffeine. Also dont do too much exercise. That can cause amorrhea and you may never be fertile. Otherwise don't worry. This generation has so much horomones in their foods that women are maturing much faster than they should. In the 1970's and previous years women definetely got later periods and have less hips and breats until they were 20. If you get to be 16 I would go see a doctor because something may in fact be wrong with your cycle.

No, of course not!
Many girls don't start until they are your age, or even as old as 16.
In the United States many girls start at a young age because they have more body fat than girls used to. Girls are chubbier now than they used to be 100 years ago.
I bet you are small and slim, which in the long run is healthier.
And good news for you -- the rate of ovarian cancer is much lower among adult women who started their periods LATE.
Your time will come, don't worry!

you may have to wait until you get a little older. every female is different. if you are very active and play a lot of sports you may possibly have to wait up until 16. if you do play a lot of sports you may want to take two months off to see if this wil trigger your period. note that if you are very thin, like a gymnast your body will have a harder time getting you to that point because of the large amount of energy it must take from other processes to ovulate(this is why the really thin women, like gymnast rarely if every have a period) you may have to wait until you first period, then see when the next pops up. the pill may be needed to regulate it

I feel your pain sweetie. I didn't get mine until about the 9th grade. If you are much later, I would check it out with a gynecologist. My problem ended up being PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). They can do an ultrasound on you and check your ovaries to make sure everything is okay. Hang in there!

There are many girls that havent started yet. I've been told that it isnt a problem unless your as old as 18. Then you should see an OBGYN. Or an other kind of doctor that specializes in a womans ovulating system.

Consider yourself very lucky that you haven't gotten it as of yet. I did not get mine until I was 16...trust me it's worth the wait.

However, if by 16 you do not get it please tell your mom to take you to a doctor to find out what's wrong. Take care. Good luck.

Girl, you are just lucky I'd say. It is messy business and some people get terrible cramps. You've got a few more years till you need to even think about when it's gonna come!
