Yes, becuase it can get hotter than water. Steam is water in a gaseous form, so it has no temperature limit. Water can only be up to boiling point, steam could be 4,000 degrees.

I'm going to say that it depends on how much you get burned by, steam is a lot less dense meaning that it would be difficult to come into contact with a lot of steam.
Water you can collect in a pot and dump on someone.
But if you have close amounts, then steam will burn worse.

Absolutely
every gram of steam will release 540 cal of energy in the
phase change from steam at 100 C to water at 100 C

Steam can be much hotter than water, because when water reaches 212 F (100 C) it turns to steam. The steam can continue to be heated to higher temperature.

YES!!!!!! Water, when boiling only burns the top layers of the epidermis. Steam, due to it's being a vapor, passes through more layers, thus making the burn that much worse.

Yes, I know this answer.!!!!
Yes, Steam burns worse than water because its superheated instead of just a boiling pot of water.
The reason I know is because my husband served on a Submarine and they taught him about that and showed him gruesome pictures about steam ruptures......They burn the person to the bone, instead of just burning the skin like common burns, or boiling.....
Steam is worse, that was one of their drills that they did on a submarine, a steam leak, and he told me that they had to wear a steam suit, filled with fresh air to even go near one since it was so hot.
Very interesting, but scary......I'm glad my hubby has a safer job now than being on a submarine.....

Yes, it really does. Steam at 100 Celsius contains much more energy than water at 100 Celsius. The steam can give up a lot of heat (into your flesh) without changing temperature. This is known as the "latent heat of vaporization".

Yes...the hottest watter can get is 212 degrees F or 100 degrees C. Steam, however can get much hotter than that and that is why it burns quicker and worse.

Steam is hotter than water thats why it has turned to steam, the hotter something is the worse the burn. This is why you should never use a wet or damp tea towel to get something out of the oven.

yes.
steam produces more severe burns that water b'coz particles in steam at 100 degrees have more energy than water at the same temperature, this is bcoz particles in steam have absorbed more or extra energy in the form of latent heat of vaporisation.
hope u know latent heat of vaporisation.
it is the amount of heat required to change 1kg of a liquid into vapor at atmospheric pressure and at its boiling point is known as latent heat of vaporisation.
