Nicknames mean that you have been accepted as an official part of a group or clique. It is a symbol of friendship and camaraderie. When you get a nickname you have a an identity and association beyond yourself and that makes people feel good. We all want to be part of something and a nickname is proof that we are.

I agree with A G. You can get a nickname HOWEVER you want to. I made mine up, THEN people starting using it. What's the big deal? If you don't like people asking the questions, STAY AWAY. Then you won't have to waste YOUR 5 point bitching about it.

I've been having mine since I was born. My daddy gave it to me. My baby has one too. Her babysitter started calling her BeBe and it just stuck. Funny how those things happen, but I agree you can't just choose one for yourself. Good luck 2D
