You'll feel much better at home. It might be a little uncomfortable driving home, but you might also fall asleep pretty fast. And I can guarantee you will feel better at home with baby and husband in your own bed.
Why don't you use your midwife and have a homebirth so you don't need to transport yourselves!? Best of both worlds.
35 minutes when you are in labour wont be too bad, might feel like a little longer, but many women drive that far to get to the hospital if not longer, and when you are coming home you will feel so relieved and happy the time should just slip by.
Congrats, what a great choice!

Thats kinda weird. The birthing center where I live offers for you to stay there for 2 days if you want or gives you the option to go home right after (with your doc/midwifes ok of course). I looked into having my baby there but I dont think I could go all natural. Best of luck though. Perhaps you should talk to the birthing center about this question.

Hospitals in the area are keeping the new family less than 24 hours here So if you are showing normal after birth go home but have a friend or Mother stay with you a few days.
They will allow you to sleep a bunch better and eat your foods and the baby will not no the difference between the cribs
(one is quite the other is house quite)

If you've had a child before, you know how tired you are after labor. You didn't say if this is your first or not. I too, thought about a birthing center, but the truth is, I just feel more comfortable being in a hopsital and dang, I WANT the rest afterward. I'm sure not going to get it when I go home, so I will take all I can get while in the hospital. My opinion.

It all depends on how long you are in labor. I was in labor for four days. They wouldn't give my an epidural cause I wasn't far enough along. Finally they decided to do a c-section. I didn't fill like going anywhere. I didn't hurt but I was so tired I couldn't even stay awake during the birth of my son. I kept falling asleep. I think you won't feel like riding in a car for 35 minute either after giving birth. Natural or not, you are still going to be tired, and sore. My opinion is that you should find somewhere closer to home, or that will let you stay and rest after wards.

That is exactly how I had my baby. I delivered at 11:10 am and was home in bed by 5. She and I were happy and healthy. You will need to moniter her/him closely for the first 24 hours. Temp, intake and diaper content. But it was so worth it to me not to be in the hospital and be in my own home with our baby.
My second baby I ended up in the hospital with because of where we lived. Having done both...i would totally recomend the midwife birthing center. Just make sure you have a good support system around you...mom, aunt, sister,friend...whatever. They are helpful the first couple of days.

I did that with all four of my kids. Actually, I felt pretty good right after I had a baby; it did not hit me until later. Have someone that can help you out at home. For me, the fifth day was the worst. You would be home then even if you had a hospital birth.

It really depends on how things go with the birth, if everything goes smooth and wonderful then you will have energy and be able to head home with lots of support. I have a friend who had her son in a birth center 45 min from her home...all was well she wished that she had just had him at home! I had all three of my children at home with midwives. All were beautiful experiences. Most midwives can handle minor emergencies at home..if things are not going well then you will most likely transfer to a hospital...how far is the closest one? Ask yourself what benefits you are getting from giving birth at the center or just doing it at home.

Hmmm i don't know if that would be a good idea. It really helps allot to have the 3 days in the hospital.
I mean a birthing center is a great place but if you can't stay at least one night then threes really no point.

the best place for you and your baby is at home as soon after the birth as possible as you will be more comfortable in your own bed and the baby will rest because your resting they will want to keep you in for a couple of hours just to make sure your well enough to go home
