I don't believe free education is in the Constitution. It traditionally was paid for by local governments or established school districts with some kick in from most states. It wasn't until Carter was in office that there was a Secretary of Education Cabinet post

So, where did you get such a bullsqueeze idea that "redstaters" (Not redsstaters, Einstein, too many s's) "hate what education has done to America"?
Perhaps you are also aware that the Constitution does not give the federal government the power to tax or spend on education? Per the founders, that was not a federal power or duty. You have heard of the Constitution, right?

The United States was not founded as a Democracy. Thomas Jefferson, in fact (the most influential of the founding fathers) wrote extensively on the evils of Democracy. Until the mid 1950's, the dictionary passed out to West Point students defined Democracy as "the worst form of government." The United States was founded as a Republic. Let's not obscure that fact simply because it sounds like the "Republican" party (which has almost nothing to do with a Republican form of government). Otherwise, I'm right there with you.

Most school districts get their funds from local taxes (sales and property). Jefferson's notion is carried out within the confines of the Constitution which does not allow the Fed to raise taxes for such use.

education in America is a joke!!! (thanks libs) Penny cannot read on a college level, tell time or locate Africa on a map.
but she does know how to text message someone within seconds, beg her parents for a LandRover, learn that Peter and Mike are "partners" and drink gallons of Vodka without puking.
Education is free. anybody can go to public school.

Honestly TJ is my favorite person in american history. He was a genius. I have a strong suspicion if every american did exactly as he said this country would have a major reduction in corruption and problems generally.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
