How can i start to act?

I live in illinois, and i am 13, i told my parents i wanted to act, but they werent to serious so im scared to tell them that i want to find an agent. Where can i start? I have no acting expirience, but am really passionate, somee help guys?

Be as passionate as you want. You'll never get an agent until you are a real actor. You need experience first. You don't want to do this because you want to act. You want to act professionally. That's a fine goal but you can't just get an agent and start auditioning. You have to know what you are doing first.

Go to the Internet and look up the bio's for some of your favorite actors. Read many different ones and you can see how many different ways they all got started. With a lot of them they took acting lessons and/or were in theatre in high school or college.

first off, when you go back to school start by joining the theatre club and get in as many plays as you can, take any role they offer you and contribute in other areas. work with your school drama teachers to build your confidence. when you hit 16 start looking for work in the local dinner theatres, it's often paid and your acting in front of people. build a portfolio of dvd's showing your stuff.
