I was caught driving my old car from the mechanic's garage to my home, 3 exits up, with intent to transfer the car to my sister the next day for her to drive. This is the only time the car had been driven in over a year! The insurance & tag had expired. After signing the car over, she purchased her own tag & insurance for the car. I pleaded not guilty in traffic court and was told I would have a "trial", whatever that is...My new job is 46 miles from home. Will I even be able to get a work permit for purposes of driving to work? If so, how long will it take??? The the judge order that if they chose, immediately?

Have you had your trial yet? How do you know your license will be suspended? Depending on what the judge wants to do, you may be able to get such a permit immediately provided that your car is properly licensed and insured.
