My backyard is being invaded with red wasps.....they are everywhere, and they even chase the hummingbirds away from the feeders. I have not located a nest.
Is there a way to get rid of them?

Man, I don't even mind wasps, but I hate those red ones. I'm not sure why because I've never been stung by one, but I just do.
Anyhow, the only way to get rid of them is to locate the nest and poison it. Unless you want to walk around your yard with a can of raid which is ill advised. If you find the nest, purchase some wasp and hornet killer with a 20ft reach. Wait until night time when all the wasps are in for the night and saturate the nest from a safe distance. In the morning inspect the nest for life signs and if there isn't any then knock down the nest and bag it up for the sanitation engineers. Good luck.

You'll need an exterminator to get into the nest and kill the queen. There are sprays to kill hornets and wasps, but these cannot get into the area where the queen lives. It takes about 4 months to kill the queen and the larvae, so call the exterminator. Meanwhile, use the spray (at your hardware store) to kill the wasps you can see.
