I wanted to make generalization about liberals but Yahoo deleted my answer. Is Yahoo a bunch of liberals or just mad conservatives that I am making fun of both sides?

Angela, I was not abusing my freedom of speech I was making the same posts that generalize liberals and conservatives like everyone else.

For those who want to know, Here is what I asked.

Why do Liberals want to make friends with Terrorists?

What is wrong with that question and how does that violate the TOS?

Spleenwater when I make a generalization its out of fun and do it for both conservatives and liberals. I hold no true affiliation for either one.

2007-07-16 07:16:11 · update #5

Spleenwater, some of my views are liberal and conservative at the same time. Also Yahoo may be a business that can determine what they allow to be posted however that still hows to me that they are for censorship at least on Yahoo Answers whenever they see fit.

well generally making generalizations of any kind should be avoided for a number of reasons:
1) it makes the person making the generalization look under educated or unintelligent
2) it gives others the impression that you are closed minded at best and a bigot, racist, etc. at worst

and, last but not least,

3) gross generalizations are usually grossly incorrect or inaccurate

Now you may say that all of this is also just another generalization, and you would be correct. it is the exception, however, that proves the rule.

curious though, and correct me if I'm wrong but it is my understanding that the belief that a business can use its own resources for whatever it likes and limit its resource usage for the kind of "speech" it chooses is a very Conservative/republican ethic.....isn't yahoo doing just that, choosing to do what it wants with the forum it has provided? Republicans should cheer them on in expressing the freedoms conservatives often grant businesses over individuals.....maybe you are more of a "liberal" than you think if you are complaining about censorship......

We are not against free speech. You can ask anything you want. I don't know about others, but I only report disgustingly racist questions or answers. They are against the community rules. I have no problem with people asking questions about Obama, but he has been elected. There is no point in continuing to campaign against him. The lies and smears didn't work during the campaign and they certainly can't accomplish anything post-election. I do think that people should wait and see how he does after taking office on January 20 before they start raving about impeachment. You can't just impeach someone because you don't like them. They have to do something seriously illegal or unethical while in office before that can be done.

You may have been reported. In which case some bed wetting liberal reported you and Yahoo just took your question down. Probably an automated system. Click report, automation kills offending post.

Angela G - How can you say free speech is free as long as you don't offend anyone? That is not free speech. Why do you think the Pilgrims left England. I am sure they found the things King George said about practicing religion (among other things) very offensive. Not offending someone is not free speech. You have the right to PURSUE HAPPINESS. No one ever guaranteed you would catch it.

Yahoo Answers is run mostly by liberal hippies. Like many liberal hippies, they are horrified at intolerance and hate speech, so they have decided to delete these kinds of statements on their website. While they have good intentions, they evidently don't understand the value of freedom of information and the harm one can do to one's own argument through censoring opposing arguments.

Take a look at some of my answers and you will see that Yahoo does not censor as much as you might think it does .
If you are a victim of censorship it is not likely due to the Idea but rather the way you phrase what you say .

Yahoo! is not Congress. Yahoo CAN restrict you and anyone else's speech in any way it deems fit according to the terms you agreed with when you signed up for this site. The Constitution is a BRILLIANT document that gets abused constantly. People claim non-existent rights and read into it things that are just not there nor were they meant to be.

There is a difference between freedom of speech and the abuse of the same. Some people (I'm not saying you did) believe freedom of speech means you can say whatever you want. In actuality, you can as long as you are not offending anyone.

You can't bash liberals or their allies on here w/o consequences. The biggest screamers of free and fair speech but only for a select few and conservatives and republicans aren't one of them! That's ok, we'll have our day!

as long as it is done in a proper manner, and good taste, it shouldn't be removed. also you should ask a question and your own opinion should be in another section. otherwise it is a violation of your free speech rights

Was it Yahoo or were you reported?

Then it seems they are against free speech as long as you weren't breaking the TOS.
