Conservatives aren't against abortions, per se. They just feel that abortions, like Justice and Education should be handled discreetly and only available to the Upper Classes.
But, it's a fair generalization that the pro-coathanger crowd does tend to believe that the Right to Life ends at the moment of birth. Their positions on War, Capital Punishment, Health Care, the Environment, Job and Product Safety, The living wage and a host of other issues make that abundantly clear. "Pro-Life" is a lie. For that matter they also oppose the most effective way of reducing abortions--Birth Control.
At least the Catholic Church has a self-interest to protect. A drop in births would unfairly limit the dating pool for Priests 8 or 10 years down the road.
It's too bad that the Courts finally cracked down on demonstrations outside of Abortion Clinics. Anyone who has ever seen an angry mob screaming epithets at a frightened twelve year old girl knows everything they would ever have to about the Pro-coathanger movement.

The far-right conservatives need to be looked at as to some of their other beliefs...add in: against contraception [both in the education of the young sense and in the availability to all sense], against feminism [i.e., the 'Feminazi' philosophes], against women gaining power in the workplace or in government...boils down to the base-line of Control the ***** thinking. Nothing freaks out your average conservo than losing control over the womenfolks...the anti-abortion stuff is merely a symptom.

It's called domestic terrorism and yes, the very radical right has burned abortion clinics, shot doctors and such. BUT, we also have the environmental radicals on the very far left who, burn equipment, shot at people cutting timber, bobby-trap the woods and kill others.
Most conservatives believe abortion is wrong because it is a life, and as early as 24 weeks, can survive outside the womb. It is not like taking out an appendix, because the fetus is a living thing, growing, developing and deserves to live as much as you or anyone else.

To take one life in order to save many.
I'm not anti abortion...but I respect the views of those who are.
Certainly those who regard abortion as baby killing would see no difference between
an abortionist aborting 10 babies
or
a gunman slaughtering the nursery school class
I wouldn't object to taking down the gunman before he moves on to the next class.

Anti-abortion sentiment has it's origins in the 'religious right' - the idea is that you're protecting life - the life of the unborn baby. To the deranged mind of a pro-life terrorist, murdering an abortion doc is morally equivalent to shooting a madman who is about to plunge a knife into a helpless baby.

I'm not conservative, but also not liberal. I will not tell you what to do with your body.
If you want the truth though: Watch an x-ray video of an abortion and see the fetus struggling as it is sliced and diced.
I agree it is hypocritical to be against killing and kill in the name of not killing.
Maybe if we weren't such a B.S. nation where everyone is out to get what they can whenever they can, then we wouldn't need to discuss it.
I really doubt that a woman would choose to want an abortion. But us guys like to promise a woman the world until we get what we want, then it is goodbye (not me. other guys).
Men - start being responsible yourselves then we won't be discussing this issue.

I am pro-life PERIOD!
I will fight for the unborn because they do not have a voice.
And I do NOT approve of anyone taking the life of an abortionist! These infrequent events are just as sad as the frequent killing of unborn children...
If you believe we (conservatives) wish death upon abortionists, you are sadly mistaken. This is a poor generalization...
Conservatives (and real Americans) will fight for life!
That's more than I can say for most liberals, who continue to lower our moral standards...

Conservatives are not against the act of abortion.
What we hate is the made up law that some liberal judges made up out of thin air and decided they knew what was best for everyone in the country.
If the country wants it or a state wants it let its population vote for that right.

First, not all conservatives are anti-abortion. I think it should certainly be allowed with some restrictions.
Also, I think murdering ANYONE is dreadful.
