Seems many conservatives on yahoo are constantly making a claim that military is 80, 90, 99 percent Republican/conservative....
However,
THERE ARE NO POLLS OR STATISTICS COMPILED BY THE GOVERNMENT OR ANY THIRD PARTY THAT WILL OFFICIALLY SHOW WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE MILITARY IS REPUBLICAN vs. DEMOCRAT vs. INDEPENDANT. !
FACT: THE LAW PREVENTS IT, IT'S CALLED RIGHT TO PRIVACY !...the same right to privacy any citizen is entitled to.
I constantly see people making that claim,.....and I challenge anyone to provide me with official non-partisan poll results.
I've looked...and it doesn't exist !
The only person who attempted this was back in 2000, a writer named Woodruff who worked for military times magazine...his results are not valid because he had over 2 thirds of his poll participants from FL and TEXAS, and they were only participants who "planned" on enlisting in the military...they weren't officially in the military and none of them were deployed.

Nature Lover - Why would you post that link when the very first paragraph says it is unscientific ????
"An unscientific survey of U.S. military personnel shows they support President Bush for re-election by a 4-to-1 ratio. Two-thirds of those responding said John Kerry's anti-war activities after he returned from Vietnam make them less likely to vote for him."

Truth Seeker - That poll is the one done by Woodruff that I pointed out already in the question. He admitted on CNN that it was biased, and wasn't conducted on active military personell.

And still ...not a single poll has been posted that is credible !!!
THEY DON'T COMPILE THOSE STATISTICS.
....so anyone posting statistics about military party affiliations, is automatically talking out of the wrong end ! WHY DO THEY DO IT ??

True but there are ways and personal experience as well.
"Voting right"
Trying to suss out the voting patterns of the military, and the ways in which their professional frustrations and satisfactions spill over into politics, has always been a murky, Kremlinology-like game. The Department of Defense, which since 1955 has had an office designed to promote voting among the military and track participation rates, does not keep statistics on how many soldiers vote Democrat or Republican, though it does know that they vote at slightly higher rates than average Americans. And ever since shortly after World War II, when academics first became numerous and frisky enough to want to poll soldiers, there have been laws making it illegal to do so. Scholars who study the politics of the military rely on what scraps of data they can assemble, and then, squinting, try to understand a pattern. They look at surveys of the political attitudes of high school seniors, cross-referenced by whether the students plan to go on to college, to work, or to the military. They note those national opinion surveys which ask participants whether or not they are veterans. They rely on the non-political surveys of the social and cultural attitudes of the military. They scan absentee-ballot returns in search of discernible patterns of military voting. Mostly, they talk to soldiers in the field and develop, over the course of their careers, anecdote-driven, rough senses of how soldiers are likely to vote. But the consensus view seems to be that the military as a whole votes Republican by a margin of slightly less than 2-to-1, with enlisted men and women Republican by 3-to-2, and Republicans outnumbering Democrats among officers by 8-to-1. (Thankfully for Democratic partisans, there are 15 times as many enlisted men as officers). Scholars know even less about how the military has voted in the past. But they have established a broad narrative of the demographics and shifting historical cultures of the military that helps explain its evolution as a political entity.

have you ever in no way observed that mutually as many questions get solutions from the two facets, rather some questions gets replied by using almost all liberals or almost all conservatives, and you ask your self, "Geez, the place'd the different area bypass?" I incredibly have concluded that particular words or phraseology in the questions will instantaneous some human beings to bypass over it, mutually as others gets piqued to envision and respond. So perchance your troll question appealed to the militia, which isn't unnatural because they have a definite form of counsel (it incredibly is referred to as "adventure") which you do no longer show. Your assumption looks particularly stupid to me, by using the way. just to call human beings liars once you do no longer even understand them seems such as you're getting whiny back. would desire to it have been because of the fact they trounced you? modifying to characteristic: particular, that replaced right into a query and not an assumption. i will see your ability to comprehend issues is rather constrained so i wish to avert any further unwarranted assumptions on your section.

Well, I've heard them CLAIM that it's because the military has such a high reenlistment rate. But reenlistment really speaks only to the brotherhood that exists in the military. Whether you think the war is a good idea or not, you're not going to abandon your brothers/sisters and leave them in a war zone.
Polls of the military show it is not as conservative as conservatives would like to think, so they always use the reenlistment numbers as a way to bolster their cause. But that just shows that no matter how much they claim to support the troops, they really don't know much about military culture.

here is a military poll that indicates that 45% of the military is conservative or very conservative.
http://www.militarycity.com/polls/2006poll_politics.php
Ironically, this poll would indicate that the majority of the troops are NOT conservative.
There have been hundreds of responders on yahoo that have "claimed" that the military is by far conservative.
they are wrong. First of all, the military is filled with "young kids" that don't even know the difference between a conservative and a liberal.

It makes sense to me a majority of enlisted men and women would considerthemselves Conservatives. But that still doesn't mean that the believe the war in Iraq is just.
I wonder how many go in to Iraq thinking that Bush is right in invading and coming out thinking it's all BS.

Seems like "naturelover" put this thing to rest. Give her the 10 points and forget you ever tried asking this question. If you go to the website she provided you will see that they do in fact poll the military. Case Closed.

I've never seen any one on here say that 99% of the military is conservative so I'm not sure where you came up with that number. Here is article that many are referencing. But I will say that as a prior military member myself, the majority of the military is indeed conservative.

Ah, i hate to bust your bubble.
But alot of organizations poll members of the military all the time, on a varity of different subjects.
The Military Times does monthly polls on the military.
What does the right to privacy have to do with military members being polled ?
Doesn't everyone have the right to privacy ?
Well people get polled all the time.
Your not saying all the political polls are all made up are you ?
Just how were they polled since they have your right to privacy.?
