without going into details on why it's doing that,
the simple answer is that
you and you're friend probably configured the router the same way as in your home.. with the ip address,
that's why some people like to set their dchp on their home routers to numbers other than 192.xxx,xxx.xx

because of the same reason you have... your firend's router doesn't know better that you came from another network since you both have the same range 192.xxx.xxx
and thinks you were part of your friends network...
even though it's a diffferent ssid..., we have this problem when we set up the wirelss at work (it's a college, and it was set up for students) and when some student went home to connect to their routers, it had the school's ip address...

next time,
when you are in your friends house, and you connect,
go to start
run
command
click on
type ipconfig /release
and hit enter..
type ipconfig /renew
and hit enter...

that should register you properly at your friends house, and when you are home, do it again...

Try checking your connection settings on your computer. If by chance, you are trying to connect to a router other than your own, the owner could have reset it, causing the connection crash. Connecting to the wrong network usually happens when swtiching between networks.

When you connect to a different modem... You get a different IP address... unless you went through the troubles of masking your IP to match the one you have at home...

Check that all your tcp/ip properties are set to automatic. If you try to use a fixed address you will often conflict with other equipment.
