The son of King Philip of Macedonia, Alexander at the age of 17 retained his throne following the assassination of his father, and set forth on a campaign to untie Greece under his rule. He did unite the Greeks but not entirely under his rule. He set forth on a campaign that led him to India conquering all in between. Great civilizations feel before him, the Persians, and the Egyptians. He installed generals upon these thrones. Cleopatra traces here lineage back to Ptolemy the General Alexander place on the Egyptian throne.
He sought to be declared a god by the Greek senate, as Hercules did. They never ceeded this to him in stead calling him not a Alexander the God but Alexander the Great.
Who died from an infection caused by a mosquito bite.

lol....ok try this um starts warfare around 17 as a general heads west from Macedonia all the way to punjab (a north indian state) conquers everything inbetween not to mention the mighty persian empire all without a single defeat.. Battle tactics of pure brilliance invented the phalanx a military teqnique copied for like ever till the romans invented the legions which were better and more versatile then the phalanx(i think thats how u spell it...) but wtf he made a huge empire and died at 33 presumbaly malaria and um he encouraged east meeting west lots of interacial marriages going ie. Persians and Greeks ie. Persians or Greeks with Indians...etc etc. ah so there yea ...not so sure that was detailed enought but wtf...

Before he was 33 years old, he conquered all of the world that he knew about and then more. He started with a relatively weak and comparatively inconsequential country, and with four exceptional generals defeated the giants of his day. He was an exceptional manager, an exceptional tactician, an exceptional leader. But he had the problem that many young are plagued with, exceptional drive and too little personal substance.

In a nutshell, he completed the work that his father wanted to do. ( his father was assassinated). They wanted to conquer many territories and Alexander did so. He had a huge range of territory. All along the way he created may libraries dedicated to Greek life and the history of it all. Him and his father were very interested in that aspect of life. Anyway, he died very young, and the amount he accomplished was astounding.

Because he rapidly conquered a huge chunk of the world as it was known by people in the Mediterranean of that time. His campaigns took him as far west as India.
