OK. I was in a parking lot, I put in drive, and by the time it went into second geer The moter turned itself off. It made a clunk that made me thing the drive shaft dropped. I looked under the truck and nothing out of the ordinary. I also looke under the hood and everything looks fine. Just because I checked the oil and its fine (no water in it.) I also checked the the radiator and its fine. When I try to turn it over it acts like the starter has trouble turning the moter. Ive ckecked the starter and it fine too. I had the little 4,6 ltr rebuilt a few years ago, but the shop I went through is no longer around. Any ideas?

If the starter is good and it will not turn the motor over, you have a problem either inside the motor or flywheel areas meaning big problems. Or you could have had an accessory seize on the front of the motor like an alternator. First thing to do is remove the serp. belt and see if the motor will crank and fire now. If it does, check all the accessory for which one does not spin fairly easy and that will be the problem. If the motor still doesn't crank, get a big ratchet and socket onto the front pulley bolt and try to turn the motor over yourself. If it doesn't you have a big problem and a bunch of stuff will have to be torn down to find out what has happened. Good luck.

Sounds like the starter to me! What do you mean you "checked the starter"? You can't tell if it's bad by looking at it.....it needs to be put under a load to tell!! Take the starter to an auto parts store and they will check it for free....hope this helps!!

Could be the fuel pump. Or clogged fuel filter. Check the fuel pressure, if it has fuel pressure, check for spark, not only could it be these, but sometimes more than one thing is the problem, if you see a check engine light on, get a diagnostic. GOOD LUCK!!!!
