either she's is short before delivery or she's really stressed out from being confined in such a small space for such a long time

Yea, it could be. Or maybe she's missing her mate...

Mine kinda went nuts just before she had her fry too. She HATED being in that plastic incubator - and hated even more being away from her man! My male stayed right next to the incubator the entire time. (It was so cute to watch how devoted he was!) I think it kept her from being too stressed cause he was always so close to her. See if you can find a plastic incubator where the babies drop down are seperated from Mom. They work wonders at saving fry! That way you won't have to stress her out by moving her away from her own tank, and away from her man. The difference in tank water could be enough to stress her too.

She may have already given birth, or is in the process. You won't really know unless you see a fry, but they are masters at hiding. If you don't have the mom seperated from the babies, SHE WILL EAT THEM if she sees them. Mine had at least 6 fry, but only 2 were smart enough to survive.

Good luck, and congrats! What kind of platty babies are you expecting? Mine are red wags, and are finally getting color at 1 week old!!!

You shouldn't have put her into her breeding tank so early. You should put her in there much closer to delivery, maybe the day before you think she will start to give birth to her fry. She has been cooped up in that tank for too long and she isn't with her other tank mates. I would put her back in again until you think she is REALLY ready.
