I've got motorcycle + car out here for the summer. I drove the car out, bought the bike here, now I need to get em home....preferably for less than a small fortune. Is there any way to combine the two into one shipment to save money? Anyone ever done this before?

How are you getting back to Boston? Have you considered driving? I'd look into buying a small trailer that will handle the bike, (assuming the car will tow it), trailer the bike back, and sell the trailer when you get home. 3000 miles at 20 mpg would take 150 gallons, which would be $450 at $3/gallon. Add $300 for motels, food, tolls, and you're at $750. If a flight costs $300, then the question is can you ship them for less than $450. I'll assume the trailer can be sold for about the same as the purchase.
Look in the yellow pages under "Trucking" to find places that might give you a quote.

I ship things around the us all the time. I would suggest hiring one driver from craigslist and having them haul both together that will not be hard. Drivers on craigslist will charge considerably less then ones else where all you have to do is go to www.craigslist.com and place an add that you need a driver. I would suggest that you mention this is a one time deal and would be great for someone having to go one way. You will get lots of responses.

Many times you can get a driver to haul it on a flatbed as an LTL.
Just find a truckstop or flatbed company, and see if they have room. You could save a bundle that way.
Otherwise, you're pretty much hosed.
