Outflow (winds being blown away) from the thunderstorm brings the smell of the rain towards the ground and outward.

There are two smells that I have noticed. One is the smell of wet soil born by the wind. The other is the smell of ozone created by the lightening flashes. Water itself has no odor that I am aware of.
