He is an outside and inside goat, Im also trying to get him socialized with the dog for some company since goats are very social animals.
Eventually we will be getting a female, but not until the current one can be neutered.

Whew! You're letting an intact buck goat into the house? Shesh! He should have been neutered within days of birth! That said, get him neutered soon - before the fall rut! Talk about S-T-I-N-K!!!

I love goats - and have kept a number of kids in the house while they were being weaned - during cold Illinois winters - but as soon as possible, out to the barn they went!

Consider a small cart. Goats are great with carts. As well as backpacks for hiking.

A tether ball is fun for them to play with - and climbing structures - wooden structures and straw bales.

DO NOT PLAY-BUTT WITH YOUR GOAT. That encourages them to knock your aged grandmother over. Not good.

Contact the American Dairy Goat Association - they're really good - as well as the Pygmy goat association.

Caprine Supply is a good place for backpacks.

You could try buying an exersaucer if you can afford it (stationary entertainment center baby sits in & plays with toys that surround it)...I got my son's exersaucer when he was about how old your baby is & he loves it! There are many different kinds of them....look around, but I recommend the Baby Einstein one made by Graco...it is just great! My sons is 13 months now and still loves it...It will keep your son busy for a long period of time while you do dishes, take a shower, or do laundry...whatever needs to be done around the house that you don't want your son getting in your way of when you're doing. I think you could find the cheapest ones of these for about $40-50 and more expensive ones might be around $100, I am not exactly certain.

I'm so glad that you are planning on getting a friend for him. Please do so as soon as you possibly can, goats are usually really unhappy when they don't have a companion 24/7. He will be a lot happier when he has a friend.

As far as toys....goats love anything that they can climb on! Rocks, doghouses, stacked cinder blocks....anything at all. With any climbing items, sure not to put them too close to the fence, or they will climb up and then jump out of their pen.

Gratz on the goat . I am told by the kids when we get our house we will have one . Goats are natural climbers so anything you can make into an hill with loots of ledges would be great . a shed would be good to for when it gets to sunny out plus to keep other bad weather off of him . Large balls to kick and butt heads with . Goats love to climb so remember to have high fencing . Try hanging up a large ball from a tree so it will have a hanging head to run into . But remember most goats like to taste everything and if they like it they will what it . Good luck .

you might try contacting your local zoo. Animals in captivity have different needs but this still maintain some natural desires. They have many enrichment programs for animals on exhibit at the zoo which incorporate average household items or handmade toys to encourage these animals to interact as they would in the wild. Zookeepers are generally nice and would love to answer the question of a concerned parent!

goats? not a very domestic type animal. mostly goats like to eat. does the goat stay outside or are you trying to domesticate it? if its an outside animal such as livestock, get it some playmates. it probably isn't going to respond to "toys" like a dog or cat. hope this helps!
