Stevie: Don't ever come crying when you are in trouble. That's right, sell away your values and believe all the lies. Personally, I believe in fighting for old values - nobody years ago could even steal another's possession without the whole neighbourhood turning against them. You are truly a worthy son of the NWO. Therefore you are in my eyes a disgrace to fellow mankind.

It's a matter of what kind of world you live in.

If everyone ignores the law, then the law is not available as a defense for them. If people follow the law, then they can turn to the law for protection.

The concept of the rule of law is part of the fundamental structure of society. Anarchy is the ultimate expression of there not being any law or authority -- everyone does whatever they want and everyone deals with the consequences on their own. Anything less than that is a spectrum.

No, I don't think we should ignore the law. In the US, we have a govt that is doing that and it's destroying the country.

That being said, if people are willing to live in a society where everyone is solely responsible for their own actions, and solely responsible for protecting themself against everyone else, then go for it. In an enlightened society where people embrace peace and have eliminated hatred, it can work. See Jame P Hogan's "Voyage from Yesteryear" as an example.

Is it time to ignore the law and do your own thing?

The arguments for this include the fact that the law is often ineffective anyway and the validity of the law should therefore be linked to its effectiveness. Moral arguments may be that some laws are morally invalid and therefore not entitled to be obeyed and we should therefore do our own thing.
More philosophical arguments argue for what would happen if there was no State laws (e.g. see Thomas Hobbes conception of State of nature).

This is a jurisprudence, philosophical and moral debate which brings us to the very nature of law and it is very complicated. You can see already there is scope for argument for or against the question.

Why not! Those in positions of power and authority do it all the time just dont get caught 'cos after all it's fat white middle aged and middle classed men in the whole that make these laws.
Remember if you make it to the ranks of the uber rich the law doesn't matter any more! Goodluck.

Ignoring the law makes you a criminal. If you disagree with a law, and can get others to agree with you, garner some political support from well organized civil rights groups and organizations and do something to change the law.

Just as long as you remember there is always a price too pay, now whether its guilt or your liberty is up to circumstance, speaking from personal experience it was my liberty for me, and now scared straight!
In hindsight though i would have done the exact same.
