The Israelis invented the cell phone, the "intel" computer chip, advanced irrigation systems, security systems and procedures, they have made advances in medical technology (prosthetic, etc), they have done extensive research on fertility (the latest: how to preserve the ovaries of young girls undergoing chemotherapy so they can have children when they grow older); the Israeli Philharmonic orchestra is one of the best in the world; three of the world's greatest violinists are Israeli: Pinchas Zuckerman, Izhak Perlman, and Gil Shaham.
This is all that comes to mind when I think of Israelis.
As for Palestinian Arabs; I have no idea what they have contributed to society or the world.

Firstly, Israel is a democracy - the only one in the whole of the Middle East.

Secondly, Israel has built many new schools, universities, hospitals and new housing for the Palestinians. She also provides water and electricity - all of this is more than any of the Arab nations do for their fellow Muslims.

Thirdly, Israel has made many innovations in the fields of medicine and technology.

Fourthly, Israel is in the frontline of the battle against terrorism and as such she provides important intelligence info for her allies in the west.

I'm sure there are many Palestinians who have also done good things, alas I don't know the details of them so couldn't add them here.

Moderate, intelligent Palestinians left within the last decade and live elsewhere, mostly Europe and the US. When Palestine began to make progress, Arafat found that he could not control his revolution. It is a fact of political life that it is very difficult to stop the violence after the revolution begins to show progress. Palestinians at one time, and actually when they were virtiually homeless, had a very high level of education and culture. Once rooted in a place to begin a life, it went bad for them and Arafat was unable to control the forces of violence within the organization. It is much easier and much more attractive these days to be the underdog, the downtrodden and the hero who is trying to resolve a great wrong. Once you begin to right the great wrong those forces who thrive on violence become the problem. In the Middle East the struggle is what life is about, and Allah forbid that you succeed or you cannot be a thug who is a commuity hero, you become just a thug with a gun. And so you will prey upon your own. Israel is held up as the great evil in the Middle East, the cause celebre and now the US is too despite the billions of dollars of aid put into the area (now characterized as selfish interests). In Iraq, the terrorists are now resorting to murdering each other and their families. Each of the groups the Shiites and Sunnis who hoped to remove Saddam cited genocide as one of the reasons the West must help and now with the chance to create a nation they are heavily involved in random murder and genocide of each other. The main problem, the main threat to the modern Arab is his countryman who is willing to kill him to dance in the street with an AK-47 and be told that you are doing God's work. Palestinians hold important places in the world community, but not in Palestine. The smarts ones saw that its a hopeless effort in the Middle East so they took their talents elsewhere. Where they do not have to sacrifice thier sons or murder the daughters of their neighbors. Palestinians have traditionally had a high regard for education and culture and now the universities are blown up and professors murdered. Its no place to be. The Middle East needs a heroic figure but it is not just another power hungry thug with a gun in this hand.

If you check out the links below, I think you'll find a disparate numbers of academics, businessmen and engineers which favors the Israelis. Most of what the Palestinians have given to the world are activists and radicals. But make your own judgments. Peace.
