Fort DeSoto Beach in St. Petersburg, FL. You can camp there or do a day trip from one of the hotels on St. Pete Beach. It's beautiful and usually deserted.

an alternative option would be to check out the florida springs, they are found in central florida and the panhandle, for example google search silver glen springs, pitt springs, or emerald springs, you may also have to add florida in the search. Or you could just google search florida springs.

panama city beach aka the redneck rivera. it is cheap and has some pretty beaches. of course you could do the mia beach thing like evryone else but hotels are expensive..to be honest you can just type in fl beaches and youll get a bunch of places.

clearwater area by tampa bay, the water is nice there, but there isn't much shopping from what i remember, everyone just hangs out at the beach or night clubs

the gulf is really nice for clearwater but they have alot of stingrays if you don't mind traveling the keys are the best and have tons of shopping and nightlife

go to the gulf. we dont get the big waves, which stirs up the sand and muck...beautiful, clear water :)
