That is ridiculous. Yellow is a color representing hope and perseverance and healing. Whomever told you that is full of it.

I have never heard of that. But I would think it all depends, did THAT person paint it yellow? Why yellow? To me yellow seems happier, like the sun. Perhaps I'm just an optimist, but I would not have connected yellow to suicide. The brain does work in strange ways, and colors do have an effect on moods. Like waiting rooms being blue, blue invokes patience and calm. It's strange how your surroundings can make your mood change isn't it?

In the Great Courses series on Color research and meanings it was mentioned that depressed people and those people who committed suicide that were artist/painters use a lot of yellow. I don't think if it as causing suicide, but as seeking something cheerful in the face of depression. Different things have been said about Van Gogh. His last painting was a Wheat field with crows (Lots of Crows) and also it has been said when he was episodic he used a lot of green. I don't place a lot of stock in that as being a symptom. That's what there was to paint... wheat, crows and sunflowers. They are interesting textures and sights!

I have never heard of yellow being connected with suicide's committed. However, what you may be thinking of is yellow ribbons. The Yellow Ribbon Program is associated with suicide prevention, so maybe that is what your friend was thinking of. For what it is worth though, I have never seen any research suggesting that the color yellow causes more suicides.

Never heard of that either.

Yellow is a happy, bright color..... i don't see the connection.

maybe we should do a survey and contact all people who commited and ask them if they had a yellow room.

Yellow is a color.
It's not like they are saying "OMG I AM GOING TO KILL MYSELF! YOU SHOULD SEE IT COMING BECAUSE MY ROOM IS YELLOW!"

That is retarded. Most people have enough common sense to not even ask questions as dumb as that.

I don't think it really matters what color their rooms are. Some would also say they are black. But, I'm not an expert on this.
