I'm 14 years old and going to a waterpark in 2 days. I've only had 2 periods before this one, one was very light and one was very heavy. During the second one I wore a tampon, but I put a pantyliner underneath it just in case it leaked. I know that I can't wear a pad/pantyliner in water, because it will swell up.
Some people say that water stops the flow, but as this is a waterpark, I'll be getting in and out of water the entire day. Help! I want to try a tampon but I've never worn on in water before.

well, a tampon will work, just use the lowest absorbency you can find, and check it often (every two to three hours) just in case you are heavy on that day.
but dont leave it in for more than 8 hours, and try to bring extra in case you stay at the park all day, so you dont risk getting TSS from keeping in the tampon for too long.
every thing will be fine, just get more accustomed to inserting the tampon so you can be sure it is placed correctly and wont leak :)

you will be fine. if your period is very light wear light tampons and change it every 4 hours. Otherwise if it's more than very light wear a regular absorbancy tampon and of course change it every 4 hours. HAVE FUN! Don't worry too much because the chlorine kills and discolors blood in the water and most swim suits have very protective crotch areas so that you won't show any blood through it. If you have a choice wear a darker swim suit and you will be set to go!

Tampons are great for swimming and no need for a liner. Just bring a few different ones like regular or heavy. Heavy you obviously won't have to change it for a while so maybe that's the safest way to go. Just remember to check to make sure the string is not hanging out.

you said during the second one you wore a tampon so you know how to put them in. Use the least absorbency(mini) or regular and bring like one for every 3 hrs and an extra one just in case. Bring them in a purse or something that way it won't be noticeable. Then say you need to go to the bathroom every 3hrs. You might want to bring a watch or a cell phone to tell time.
IMPORTANT: dont forget it's in!!

water doesn't stop the flow.
that's BS.
just wear a tampon by itself and change it often and figure out your flow for that month.
i have to go to a water park in a week.
thankfully my period is happening now.
it won't swell up too much, since it's inside your body.

you will be ok! water does seem to stop it...i don't know how or why. Still, I would use a tampon. actually, i would use something called an Instead cup, which is available at wallgreens and CVS drug stores. In your case, however, being so young you might find it more difficult to use until you're a more "experienced" menstruator...
good luck

Wear a tampon. WATER DOES NOT STOP THE FLOW. It just washes away the blood.
