If you use a calculator when you buy fuel, it often comes out to a fraction of a penny/cent. How often is the amount you pay rounded up in favour of the oil company?

How often do you buy fuel? If you purchase fuel twice a week, and each time you lose 0.1p or 0.1c due to a rounding you are talking about how much money?

The pumps are calibrated to charge you for the amount of fuel. If you are so worried about rounded numbers, stop the pump on an exact figure. For example if the price of fuel is $2.999 per gallon (I am in the USA) and you pump exactly 10 gallons, you will pay $29.99.

Life is too short to worry about 1/10 of one cent!

Yes - because the price is computed automatically at the pump.
